EMIGRATION AND DEPORTATION

Emigration:

  1. John Earls, a 28-year-old labourer, left Galway on the ship "Downes" and arrived in New York on Oct.24, 1850.
  2. James Earls, aged 25 and single, of Miltown Malbay sailed from Queenstown in the "Oceanic" and arrived in New York on Jun.1, 1905.

Transportation:

  1. Patrick Earls, aged 40, was convicted of sheep stealing in County Galway on Oct. 29, 1847, and sentenced to transportation to Australia for 10 years. The convict ``died in depot, Oct.13, 1840''.
  2. Patrick Earls was convicted of sheep stealing in County Clare on June 28, 1849, and sentenced to transportation to Australia for 7 years.
